हर एक आवाज़ उर्दू को फरियादी बताती है

ये पगली फिर भी अब तक खुद को शहजादी बताती है

कई बातें मोहब्बत सबको बुनियादी बताती हैं

जो परदादी बताती थी वही दादी बताती हैं

जहाँ पिछले कई बरसों से काले नाग रहते हैं

वहाँ एक घोसला चिडियों का था दादी बताती है

गुलामी  ने अभी तक मुल्क का पीछा नहीं छोड़ा

 हमे फिर कैद होना है ये आज़ादी बताती है 

गरीबी  क्यूँ हमारे शहर से बाहर नहीं जाती

 अमीर-ए-शहर के घर की हर एक शादी बताती है

मैं उन आँखों के मयखाने में थोड़ी देर बैठा था 

मुझे दुनिया नशे का आज तक आदी बताती है

jahan pichhle kayi barson se kaale naag rehte hain
wahan ek ghosla chidhiyon ka tha daadi batati hai

abhi tak ye ilaaka hai rawadaari ke kabze mein,
abhi firka parasti kam hai aabaadi batati hai

yahan veeraniyon ki ek muddat se hukumat hai,
yahan se nafrate guzri hain barbaadi batati hai
